The collection of disorders known as cancer is defined by the growth of aberrant cells that divide uncontrollably and can penetrate and destroy normal human tissue.

When the aberrant cells begin to wander the whole body, this sickness really takes shape.

In the United States, cancer ranks second most often occurring cause of mortality. Still, the progress in cancer screening and treatment technologies has greatly raised the survival rate.

Causes of Cancer

Development of cancer can take decades. Most cancer patients diagnosed are therefore 65 or older. Although it is more common in older persons, cancer can be diagnosed at any age and is not only an adult disease.
