What is Lenalid 25 mg Capsule?

​Lenalid 25 mg Capsule is a medicine for cancer. It is used in combination with other medicines to treat multiple myeloma (a type of cancer of the white blood cells), mantle cell lymphoma (a type of rare blood cell cancer), and myelodysplastic syndrome (a group of diseases caused by blood cells that are poorly formed or do not work properly).

Lenalid 25 mg Capsule is also used to treat follicular lymphoma (a type of cancer that affects your lymphatic system. Lenalid 25 mg Capsule acts by inhibiting the chemicals responsible for the abnormal growth of cancer cells.

​Lenalid 25 mg Capsule may cause some common adverse effects such as headache, weakness, nausea, rash, and dizziness. This medicine may reduce the number of blood cells (decrease red blood and white blood cells) in your blood, thereby, increasing the susceptibility to infections or bleeding.

Hence, take caution while performing the activity that might increase your chances of bleeding or avoid contact with people suffering from an infection such as a cold. Regular blood tests are require to check your blood cells while on treatment.

​Lenalid 25 mg Capsule may be take with or without food. Your doctor will determine the dose and duration of treatment depending on the severity of your condition. Multiple Myeloma: Lenalid 25 mg Capsule is use in combination with other medications such as dexamethasone or bortezomib which is used to treat multiple myeloma, a type of cancer that affects the bone marrow.

​Mantle Cell Lymphoma: Lenalid 25 mg Capsule is use to treat mantle cell lymphoma, a type of non-hodgkin’s lymphoma.

​Myelodysplastic Syndrome: Lenalid 25 mg is use in the treatment of myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) a type of blood cancer in which the bone marrow doesn’t produce enough healthy blood cells.

​Follicular Lymphoma: Lenalid 25 mg Capsule is used in the treatment of follicular lymphoma is a type of blood cancer that affects the lymphatic system, which is part of the immune system. It is characterize by the abnormal growth of lymphatic cells called follicles in the lymph nodes and other tissues.

How Lenalid 25 mg Capsule Works?

Lenalid 25 mg Capsule belongs to a class of drugs called immunomodulatory agents. 

Lenalid 25 mg Capsule works specifically by inhibiting the production of a protein called interleukin-6 (IL -6). IL -6 is a protein that plays a role in the growth and proliferation of certain cells, including cancer cells. By inhibiting IL -6, lenalidomide may help slow or stop the growth of cancer cells.
